One of the solutions for this problem all involved uninstalling and then reinstalling the Microsoft security essentials. As we said in the introductions it is the software that often causes the problem. If you are interested in trying out the solution then simply follow the steps:

  1. Grab your Windows computer.
  2. Click on start.
  3. Depending on your version of Windows click on Settings and then Control Panel; click directly on the control panel; hit the Windows key and the R key in order to load the one dialog box, type in the words control panel and hit the Enter key.
  4. Once you have managed to get to the Control panel you should double click. This action will open either the add and remove programs or the programs and features depending again on your version of Windows. Either way, you should get to the list of programs installed on your computer.
  5. Go through the program list carefully until you locate the Microsoft security essentials
  6. Uninstall (remove) then Microsoft security essentials program.
  7. Once you have fully uninstalled this program you should restart your computer.

Then check if the problem has been fixed and if it has not then tried out one of the other solutions.

Another very effective if a somehow little bit more convoluted solution would involve checking that your computer has not been affected by malware. This is, however, left complicated that he may appear. If you are not sure how to do this, simply follow these steps:

  1. Grab your Windows computer.
  2. Close down all the problems you are using.
  3. Once all the problems have been shot down you should your computer.
  4. Then, if you use Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP, you should press the F8 key on your keyboard as your computer is restarting, making sure that you do so before the Windows logo displays on the screen; this action should make menu display, you should highlight the option that says safe mode with networking and then hit the enter key on your keyboard. If, however, you use Windows 8 you should hit the Windows key and the R key simultaneously in order to make the run dialog box display. Then you should type the following into the run dialog box: msconfig and hit the enter key on your keyboard. Following that, you should click on the boot tab and then check the boxes that say safe boot and network. Then click on OK and restart your computer.
  5. Once your computer has been fully restarted you should download one of the available pieces of software that detect anti-malware. You can search Google for the ones available for free.
  6. After installing this you should save it to your desktop.
  7. Head over to your desktop and double-click on the detection program you have just installed. This action will launch the program.
  8. Using the program you have to downloaded perform a complete scan by clicking on the scan button. The full scan will take some time so if you have anything urgent to do you can just leave it running in the background.
  9. Once this has been completed and the problem has discovered any malware you should click on delete.
  10. Finally, close down the program you have been using and check if the problem has been solved.

Another possible solution would involve Microsoft security essentials and its scanning times. This time you would need to reschedule its scanning time. If you are not too sure how to do this, simply follow the steps:

  1. Grab your Windows computer.
  2. Launch the Microsoft security essentials application. This would normally be on your desktop but it could be somewhere else depending on what you saved it.
  3. Once you have launched Microsoft security essentials click on the settings tab.
  4. Focus your attention on the left panel and click on the scheduled scan option there. This action will then display different options.
  5. Now focus your attention on the area located on the right-hand side and said a new day and time for a scheduled scan.
  6. Once you have changed the date and the time, click on the save changes button.
  7. Then close the Microsoft security essentials application. You should then check it this problem still persists. If it does not then you do not need to do anything else, of course. If, however, the problem should persist then you should carry out the following steps:
  8. Open the Microsoft security essentials application again.
  9. Then click on settings again. This action will display different options.
  10. Focus your attention on the pane on the left-hand side and select the option that reads real-time protection.
  11. Then focus your attention on the right-hand side pane and check the turn on real-time protection (recommended) box.
  12. Finally shut down Microsoft security essentials.

Once again you should check whether the problem has been fixed. There is a chance, however, that the steps have not been able to solve the problem. If this is the case for you, do not worry, for there are still some additional steps you could follow. The steps will simply disable the Microsoft security client, which should solve the problem once and for all:

  1. Grab your Windows computer.
  2. Press down the following two keys simultaneously: the Windows key in the R key. This action will prompt the run dialog box to load.
  3. Once the run dialog box is displaying on your screen, you should type the following: msconfig
  4. Hit the press key on your keyboard. This action will prompt the system configuration window to display.
  5. Click on the startup tab on the system configuration window.
  6. Next, you will need to uncheck the Microsoft security client box.
  7. Then click on the OK button.
  8. The final step would simply be restarting your Windows PC.

Once you have restarted your computer you should check whether this particular problem has been solved. Even if it has, you will not be done yet.
