What Causes Installation Error Code 0x80070570
As we hinted at above, this error is most commonly associated with installing Windows 7. All that being said, this error can actually happen in a variety of different scenarios although most of them have something to do with software installation.
Very often, this error seems to occur in the middle of installing software, normally in one of the following two scenarios:
- When you are performing a clean install of Windows 7.
- When you are installing an update for Widows.
In those cases, you will find that the install is halted before completion, usually somewhere around the middle of it. You will then should get an error message on your screen making clear that there is definitely a problem going on. The error message that you would get, will be as follows:

All that being said, here are the more recurrent reasons behind error 0x80070570.
The most common reason is that the installations disk (CD) that you are using is either damaged (scratched) or do not have the right permission to be used on your Windows computer.
Another reason is that a user of the computer has deleted or moved some files that are needed in order to complete the install. Similarly, it could be that the application that you are installing is not able to find some files in needs for other reasons such as those files being missing or corrupted, or errors occurring in the registry settings.
It is also possible that your getting this error message and the install being interrupted could be a sign that your computer has actually been previously infected by malware or a virus. The fact that you are getting this error now does not necessarily mean that your computer has just been infected by a virus. It could very well be the case that you have had that virus or malware for some time but are just now noticing it.

Possible Fix # 1
I know that the first possible fix may seem really self-evident. You might even think that it is no fix at all but trust me it does work. And anything as simple and usually as effective as this possible fix is is well worth trying out.
The first thing I’d suggest you do would be to attempt to install the Windows software that was previously interrupted by this error.
So, what is this all about? Well, this is all about trying to rule out whether the problem is created by a corrupted or damaged installation disk.
One way in which you can do this is to burn the installation disk at a low speed onto a new CD so you can use the data and the Windows installation key but from a CD that is not damaged.
We cannot emphasize strongly enough that you should do the burning on a very low speed. The reason for this is that it is a lot more common to get errors if you try to write the new disk at a fast speed.
We are aware that this method takes time so be patient. Obviously, if you want this to work out do not choose an old or a cheap disk. Some people may be tempted to grab any old empty disk they have lying around and write the data onto this. We’d strongly discourage you from doing this. It’s a false economy.
An old or a cheap disk may already be damaged and, even if it’s not, it is definably a lot more likely to become damaged than a good quality one. So do not be afraid to spend some money into a quality disk before you go ahead and burn the data onto it.
Once you have written the new disk attempt the installation again.
If you were not using a disk for the original installation but a USB with an ISO file, just try a new USB stick. It doesn’t matter how old this is as it is harder for a USB to become damaged. But if you have a few USB lying around, try one after the other after you find one that’ll do the trick for you.
When attempted the installation again make sure that you remove the hardware that you do not need from your computer. This is because you’d want to prevent any potential incompatibility from causing errors when you install the software. Here’s a list of typically unnecessary hardware:
- Printer.
- Network cards.
- Microphone hardware.
- Any external drives.
Once you have removed all the unnecessary hardware, and have made sure that you have the latest version of ISO, you should attempt the installation again.
Then follow these simple steps:
