The iPhone 12 Pro Max is preceded by a scary headline: “the largest iPhone ever . “ And yes, this iPhone is the largest phone Apple has ever made and that can be a great advantage or a huge disadvantage. And we are talking about nothing less than 6.7 inches of screen , a panel with good contrast, brightness and colors with which you will practically not miss any type of support or extra equipment – without going any further, I can tell you that during the time that I have been using the Pro Max as a personal phone, I have hardly used my iPad.
The bad side , of course, is that with this we also have a tremendously large phone. I must confess that I am quite a fan of large smartphones. I have always defended them and I have always liked them because they usually offer me a wider panel and also a bigger battery . However, with this Pro Max I thought a lot about whether to finally bet on it or not because hardly the first time you see it you will like it and don’t think it’s giant. It will be as the days go by when you finally see if you either get used to it or, instead, end up confirming that it is uncomfortable to use with one hand or that it is too bulky for day-to-day use.
The battery, its other great attraction
Being that big at least has one special advantage over its Pro brother and that is autonomy. This Pro Max is a real delight in terms of battery and has been one of the reasons why in the end (alert: spoiler) I ended up betting on it against the iPhone Pro 12.
Unfortunately, now I do not travel as much as to be able to test it on the go, but I can confirm that with normal use of the terminal, you can allow yourself to charge the phone one day and one day, given its great endurance, which with its little brother, the iPhone 12 Pro, does not pass.
Photography: is there so much difference?
Regarding the cameras issue – which you are surely wondering – there are also differences, but in this case they are so small that I would not even dare to tell you that you should buy the iPhone 12 Pro Max for its lenses. In the morning, with favorable light conditions , the results are, in fact, tremendously similar so it is quite difficult to opt for the photography of one model or another. Yes, you will appreciate a small qualitative leap when using the zoom, since the Pro Max has a 2.5x optical zoom compared to the 2x of the 12 Pro and you will enjoy something more sharp and especially close in the shots . Even the 12x digital zoom of the Pro Max comes out quite well, so that we can highlight a better work in this area in favor of the couple’s graduation .
As for the portrait, because again the work of cropping and bokeh effect is very similar (slightly more pronounced in the Pro Max), only that with the larger terminal we will get a little closer to the subject (in equal distances with respect to the Pro model ) and you may like that more or less – in the video that you have a few lines above you can see examples of all the situations and scenarios that I am pointing out, by the way.
At night I could tell you that I have observed certain details to lean towards the iPhone 12 Peo Max with a little more definition and texture in certain situations, but again these are such small and subtle differences that it is difficult to emphasize them in a forceful way .
And when it comes to recording video ? You probably know that the iPhone 12 Pro Max enjoys improved stabilization thanks to an internal motor while the iPhone 12 Pro works this function by software. People who are experts in the field of recording and cinema claim to find differences, but, most likely if it is not your field, it will happen to you like me: you will know that the Max is superior but you will rarely really see an obvious difference between its results and those of the iPhone 12 Pro.
For a very specific audience
My pulse does not shake when I tell you that the iPhone 12 Pro Max is undoubtedly one of the phones, in terms of dimensions, more risky than I have ever had to evaluate to recommend. I would tell you, in fact, that only if you give extreme importance to a large screen and a larger battery , bet on it, although this will always mean sacrificing other aspects related to its comfort of use.
I don’t even think the camera can be a weighting factor given its small differences and only in very specific cases, where you really care a lot and are very special with photography, it will really make up for the jump. It remains for you to value it.
