Samsung Galaxy S20 FE vs Xiaomi Mi 10: Differences and Which One to Buy

It is increasingly difficult for us to choose a mobile. Brands are increasingly tightening the quality / price ratio thanks to their great competition. This means that in a range of less than 600 euros we find high-end terminals capable of looking from you to you at much more expensive devices. This is further accentuated if we take a look at those phones that have been on the market for some time, such as the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and the Xiaomi Mi 10.

The good thing about the fierce competition between different manufacturers is that we are in a time where we can find better offers and proposals in all price ranges. Today we wanted to see the differences between the Mi 10, one of Xiaomi’s first bets in the high-end of 2020, and the Galaxy S20 FE, which hit the market seven months later.

Screen and dimensions

If we take a look at its screen, we find similar sizes, but it is the Xiaomi Mi 10 that has a larger 6.67-inch panel, with FullHD + resolution. The S20 FE reaches 6.5 inches also with FullHD + resolution. However, only the Galaxy has a refresh rate of 120 Hz , compared to the 90 Hz of the Mi 10. Both are protected with Gorilla Glass 5, and in the frame / screen ratio, the Mi 10 takes the screen with a 89.8% percentage versus 84.8% for the Galaxy S20 FE.

In dimensions and weight we also find notable differences. In this case, it is the Galaxy S20 FE that takes the featherweight award with its 190 grams, compared to 208 grams of its rival. It also offers a slightly less thickness with its 8.4mm grams compared to the 9mm of the Xiaomi Mi 10.

All the power of Snapdragon

When we lift the hood, we find the same bet, thanks to the power of the Snapdragon 865, the most powerful Android processor of 2020. In addition, both terminals are sold in versions of 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal memory. The advantage in this regard is for the S20 FE, which is the only one that allows you to expand this capacity using microSD cards. It also has a faster file reading speed, thanks to the UFS 3.1 standard compared to the UFS 3.0 of the Mi 10.

With this planning, top-level performance is assured on both devices. If we take a look at its scores in a performance benchmark such as AnTuTu, we see that the Galaxy S20 FE has reached peaks that exceed 595,000 points, compared to the Xiaomi Mi 11 that touches 580,000 points. It is a small difference when we reach these performance heights.

Very different cameras

But where we find big differences is in the chamber bets of both terminals. We see that the Galaxy S20 FE sports a triple rear camera, with a 12 megapixel main sensor, an 8 megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a 12 megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor. The Xiaomi Mi 10 boasts a 108 megapixel sensor, a 13 megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor, and macro and depth sensors of 2 megapixels each.

On the front, the two terminals have a hole to house the selfie sensor. In this case, it is the Galaxy S20 FE that shows more muscle with its 32 megapixels, compared to the 20 megapixels of the Xiaomi Mi 10.

If we have to take video recording into account, both have the ability to record video in 4K at 60 fps, however, only the Mi 10 can do it in 8K resolution at 30 fps. However, the tables are turned with the front camera, since it is the S20 FE that can record or make video calls in 4K resolution, while the Mi 10 has to settle for FullHD resolution.

Connections and battery

In terms of connections, none of them lack something as important from now on as 5G. In addition, they have Bluetooth (5.0 in the S20 FE and 5.0 in the Mi 10), NFC and USB Type-C. None have a 3.5mm headphone jack, but they do have a fingerprint sensor on the screen to improve security.

Battery-wise, the S20 FE reaches 4,500 mAh with 25W fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The Mi 10 has the same charging capacities in its 4,780 mAh, but with charging technologies of 30W for fast charging, 30W for wireless charging and 5W for reverse wireless charging. It is important to note that the two terminals move with the last layers of their respective manufacturers.

The advantage of the S20 FE is that according to Samsung’s update policies, it is likely that the terminal will see Android 13 in its gut , while the future in the Mi 10 is uncertain, as it usually happens in many terminals of the firm China.

Even prices

Although the prices are very similar at the moment, the truth is that in this sense, a Mi 10 may seem more succulent at the moment. We say this because Amazon offers a 256 GB Mi 10 for about 580 euros, while the cheapest S20 FE that we can buy in the same portal, is priced at 642 euros, but in its 128 GB variant.
